Departing at 2:00 pm ? why so late !

Good evening,

I just got home from the funeral for the dearly departed Mr. Bernard Gilliam, the service started at 2:00pm, I told my husband that when my time comes to be with the Lord.

I want my funeral service to start at 12:00 or 1:00 noon so everyone can get home at
a decent hour, and this being a week day, Thursday, by time we got out of the church we had to contend with big yellow, you guessed it, hot rod wheeling school buses.

I am already running on grief fumes,in heels and my husband has to grab my hands as we make a mad dash to cross the street, or we will be road killed by a bus driver trying to make his or her route schedule on time.

I live in a shipbuilding town, and this is our main industry, so at 4pm you have to deal with shipyard traffic, thousands of the steelworkers take to the streets as they make their way home. What a bad time to have a funeral 2pm! I am really just
venting......really exaggerating a bit.......walling, as the kids say ! Laughing out Loud !

Well, the service was just simply beautiful and respectfully done, It was a home going to remember, singing, remarks, prayers, everything was just on point.

One thing , Minister Dwight Riddick said that stuck with me , Think of death this way, when you go to the airport your family members are sad when you leave, some even bawl and cry, as you board the plane (styled as death ) and say goodbye, but on the other hand when you reach your destination ( styled as heaven ) your family on the other end are overjoyed to see you....


The Word says to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.......

Rest in peace, Mr.Bernard Gilliam your funeral was just like your life First Class, you were a Welder by trade, but you welded a lot of hearts together with your expression of Love......Thank you!

I know you have been hurt, had set backs, bad relationships,divorce, widowed,financial issues, unemployment issues, recession associated issues, situations with family members, some may be facing illness in your body. Whatever your situation, I stand as a witness to say....You can not stop here!

You can not stop here! do not set up a camp of woe is me, or a tent of self pity, or go into a cave...do not take on the spirit of " I give up, it doesn't matter what I do , I will never get ahead, I will never be happy, my prince or princess will never come.....my ship will not be coming in...."

cancel and rebuke these thoughts from your mind, your ship has come in, your ship of Zion has come in the person of Jesus Christ...cast all your cares on him. He is your source.....your situation has come so God can show you how strong he is,thus restoring your faith and hope in the Lord.

You can not stop here!

Live your life expecting a miracle, it is not just for others ,it is designed for you also. Christ didn't just come for me, he came for you too. So when you get to the end of your rope, don't give up and stop here! your situation has come to navigate you to your next level....So don't be afraid to trust God and take the leap! You will never lose with God on your side!

Remember don't stop here! Your best is yet to come....

While a door closed on earth , a gate opened in heaven

A door closed on earth and a gate opened in heaven.......

so sad to lose a love one, a relative, friend, church member, neighbor, or a co-worker. While you have the chance, show a act of kindness, tell someone that you love them and that you care.

Make that phone call, stop by for a long over due visit.

A voice you once, could hear at will, you will no longer hear, the voice has been silenced.

Where will you spent eternity? Heaven or Hell? No in between, hot or cold, no lukewarm status here.

Remember " life is just beginning when this one ends "

I just found out a few hours ago, a dear friend my husband and I visited with last Sunday, passed away into the arms of the Lord. Immediately I could feel that raw, knife searing pain of separation,uncertainty, anxiety and a powerless feeling of helplessness that the sudden news of death brings.

Death has come into my circle of friends and all my plans have slipped into nothing,
just empty plans on a calender never to come to pass in this life with Mr. Gilliam.

Death has come and I had no power over it, I have been rendered powerless. Let the tears fall.......

Oh death where is your sting?

I thank God, Jesus death on the cross gave me the hope and power in believing that there is another life after this one.That we can spent eternity with Jesus Christ, if we repent of our sins, our wrong deeds in the flesh and serving him to the best of our ability. Jesus is not looking for perfection, only he is perfect, we will be working on ourselves until the day we die.

Jesus said occupy until I come.....that means to keep striving, everyday of your life keep on striving......You slip or mess up , so what! tell the Lord you are sorry and keep it moving......get into a bible believing Word based church and keep on striving.....Repenting and cleaning up our lives is a everyday journey, look at me I am not perfect , but I am striving....

Give your life to Jesus, while you have time. At church we sing this song " Time, time, time, time is winding up, time is winding up all the time."

When a door closes on earth, the gates open in heaven ......Life just begins when this one ends .......

Rest in peace Mr.Gilliam it is my prayer that we will meet again in heaven...

Cherishing memories that are forever sacred,

Cats and dogs !

Happy Saturday

It is beautiful outside, my cats Tom and Jerri, are just anxiously hoping to be let outside to run , roll and frolic, basking in the sun while letting the gentle breeze of the wind blowing across their fur coats.

Well I was thinking ....Why is it pets know how to take advantage of life and be carefree and we as human when given the time to relax , we focus on everybody , every thing but relaxing our body's and de stressing our minds..

Then when time comes to go back to work, we are more uptight, stressed, hemmed up , strained, miserable, tired, tense ,than we were before our day off, holiday,or vacation came.

So this weekend to everyone who is off, get into life, do something that is relaxing, encouraging and rewarding... such as reading a good book, go to the movie, spent time with the family, go to the beach, walk around your neighborhood, hike on a nature trail, go to the museum, church activities, visit the sick and shut in, the bottom line here is do something to relax your body and spirit. Well, gotta go let Tom and Jerri out to bask in the sun!

The Word of God says this......

Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true,whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Two paychecks away from the streets ......

On a beautiful sunny Saturday, my husband and I were out riding just enjoying the day, little did we know we were about to experience in your face, first hand effects of the economy on someones life. Well we saw a garage sale sign, and my family members know I brake for a garage sale, never knowing what treasure,

I may find perhaps a smurf or smurfette figure, ( I collect and own over 100 of these figures) . Well we pulled in and met a young thin built man who looked tired , worn and had a weary look on his unshaven face, he proceeded to tell us of his plight, and how he was garage selling not for fun, but out of necessity, said he made a hard choice of keeping the water on or the lights, he chose the water.

Well he was selling items to buy food for today. A 5.00 pizza since he had no refrigeration. Oh my God, I was so humbled and awed at this young man, still trying to make a hustle for his family. Despite the odds against him he was trying to stay above water, I said a few words, and quietly retreated to the truck, leaving my husband to buy something from the gentleman, thus keeping his pride intact, and helping us to feel like we are part of the solution.

I sat in the truck on my blackberry reflecting over my own life, almost shamed that I had a sense of materialism, In my closing how many coach or dooney purses do I need? This was a major heart wrenching wake up call for me. If you lost your job today what would happen, we are all two pay checks from the streets, Put your trust in the lord , so when you need a helping hand, God is a present help in the time of storm.

Keep him in your present, keep him in your heart, don't leave home without Him. Call upon him while he is near. When you are going through, the enemy makes it seem like he is so far away. Don't believe the hype! He said he'd never leave us or forsake us! Continue to be blessed from the Well!

A young couple that I know are declaring publicly to the world

their Love for each other. I really wanted to speak into their life

and into their future, to let them know, I am very happy for them

both in a day and time when shacking is the norm, and getting married

is a old fashion standard from times past. I've got a news flash for you even in the

70's we shacked up, so this generation has not blazed any new territory's, the Word says there

is nothing new under the sun. Been there done that and I have a T-shirt. I have a short word of

advice for you always remember you were best friends first, so when the love and passion starts

to simmer down some and it will after a couple of years. You can't go on like rabbits forever or

you'd have a heart attack or a house full of children.

Also remember Marriage is God's idea he ordained marriage in the garden of Eden, with the first

husband and wife team being Adam and Eve. So what ever you face or encounter as you start

your life together, honor God first, then respect, cherish and honor each other.

I pray God's divine blessings upon this union today and forever more, may the fruit of your

expression of love be blessed. Much love to you both as you start your new life together in

Pride of Ownership

Please join me in this Celebration! Samaritiandiva which was started one month ago as a vehicle for encouragement to all. Since that concept this has gotten bigger than I ever even imagine it would.

The Lord inspired me and I really felt the strong tugging of these words on my heart as if they were direction in where I should be going. I heard the words " I will bless yours words, but they will have to be my Words". You see only what we do for Christ will last.Put Christ first in every area of your life and watch God move on your behalf. Whatever religion you label yourself, they are just labels , they come off what matters is the motive and intend of the heart. Christ says we are to show love to one and all, yes, even the unlovable. You don't have to set up camp with them, just don't treat them the way they treat you. Better to just walk away, a good run is better than a bad stand. So run to Jesus if you must run at all.

Well, I purchased the domain name for Samaritian diva today ! Thank God it was available, We have a long way to go, I thank God for humble beginnings, Pray that I continue to remain humble, and grounded with a never ending love for people, pray that I never get closed , or narrow minded in my dealings with people. My Furry Grandchild

My daughter called me on Tuesday and told me "Ma I need for you to take your grand child to the groomers" I am thinking like who is going where? None of my two legged grandchildren go to the groomers, they go to the beauty shop but not the groomers, then it dawned on me she is talking about Reesie her Yorkie terrier.

I swear this girl is 27 ish single with no children, a workaholic,shopaholic, neat freak and career student, who is very loving and giving whose standards are so high, I can't believe some times she is my daughter. In my day love was all you needed to have a happy healthy relationship, not now this generation they want college, career, car , a home all before getting married.

I have accepted this little diaper wearing, hyper full of energy , that I want to slip some adderall to calm him down pooch as my grandchild, so to every one , meet my grand child Reesie.

Ferryride at Moonlight

We had a girls night out , I think last year, we went on the ferry from Suffolk area to the Nauticus in Norfolk , Va. it was wonderful, and the best part was it only cost one dollar. The temperature was very nice, the fellowship was great. Just wonderful seeing all that water , God's creation, and feeling the sea breeze on my face....what a feeling of excitement.....

Power of Acknowledgement

The Power of Acknowledgement,

ten lepers were healed, while on the way to see the priests, one leper who was a Samaritan looked down at his flesh and noticed he was healed ! He stopped in his tracks and returned to the place he had received his blessing a miracle indeed! he returned to give thanks....( Luke 17:19 )

Don't be like the other nine ( 9 ) they didn't come back and acknowledge the kindness that had been shown toward them, they received more than kindness, they were HEALED ! yet they did not return to give thanks, do not be like them.Don't get bless and stop, receive your blessing, give thanks and watch it start to bless others, you see everything that's happens in your life is to help someone else. Amen, I know that's right!

If some one in your life has treated you well, tell them thank you! make a phone call, send a email, a text message, write a letter, technology has made it so easy to stay in touch, that it amazes me how many acknowledgement's go unanswered...we are just to busy as a people to show ourselves friendly by simply touching the lives of people who have impacted our life...

How much time does it take to do these things? face book , twitter, tagged, classmate, my space, all these different sites that even though they are making money with the ads, etc. we still have the opportunity to use these methods for the greater good to stay in touch and nurture family ,friends, just good old fashion fellowship.

Don't let your friendships fade away . . . . . . . . . . . .

When we get to the crossroads of life, it won't matter your position or station in life, doesn't matter what type of home you live in be it a mansion on an estate,cottage, condo, apartment, trailer, or even a tent. It doesn't matter how many stocks, bonds, mutual funds, Cd's, you own ,or what you're bank account balance is.

Measure your success by your friends, reaching out while you can, one day when you are ready to reach out , it may be to late, you may get the message :

Cast your cares upon the Lord he will see you through these trying times, I know it looks bad this economy is in a recession, it doesn't matter how we got there, we could point fingers all day, the results is all that matters. Remember the story in I kings 17:12 of the rain that did not fall for a few years, the land was in a drought, a very severe shortage for a long period of time, pretty much like now,only different it is our economy that is experiencing drought....but God had a plan he sent the Elijah to the widow woman , she gave all she had to the prophet and the Lord substain her, from that day forth she never knew lack.Give God all you have, meaning give him your heart, your soul and your trust.

If you can go through trusting God, you will be alright, I know it sounds foolish, but in I Corinthians 1:27 " But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise ; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty ; .......

Just trust God the world may be in a recession, God is not in a recession, he still has cattle upon a thousand hills Psalms 50 :10 also in that chapter he says to call upon him in the time of trouble.

Go through these tough times knowing God is faithful he will never leave you or forsake you no matter how dark the situation seems, Do something different trust God and walk away with confidence knowing he's got your back... Remember this : the word recession is not even in the bible, Christ conquered it all on the cross. I say all this to say when you are backed against the wall and you see no relief in sight, hold onto your faith . Trials come to make us strong it is the trying of your faith that worketh patience, in other words, don't pray for patience cause you will go through more things to perfect patience in you. Just ask God to help you to face what ever you may be dealing with.

When you don't have all the answers, just keep on trusting God, Galatians 6:9 says And let us not be weary in well doing : for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not ....

Your Due season is coming , God has appointed a time when you shall be rewarded for your deeds whether good or bad......He is the judge of your reward......

When you don't have all the answers and don't know who, what, where, when and why. Just keep on trusting God he has a plan and will for your life.......may God bless you richly from the well !

What I got out of this is, no matter where you find yourself in life whether up or down, give God thanks, all of these different positions in the transition of life must come to make you and to mold you. We need happiness, trials, sorrows, failures and success in our life. If we had everything going our way all the time we would think we don't need God. When we always need God cause he felt we were so valuable , that he sent his son Jesus to die for us on the cross.
